Be a Junior Guide with the Chadds Ford Historical Society!

Is your child a history-lover? Have them become a junior guide with the Chadds Ford Historical Society! This all-year-round flexible program is available to children 11-18 and encourages them to take a more “hands-on” approach to learning about the history and heritage of the area.

Unearth History!
During their time with us, Junior Guides will be given the skills and knowledge to conduct tours at our two historic buildings, the John Chads House and the Barns Brinton House. Through tour guiding, junior guides will learn real-world skills like public speaking, research and improvisation while also connecting to people of the past. Junior Guides will have the opportunity to dress in Colonial garb and learn about historical interpretation from living historians.

Explore Your Creativity!
We encourage junior guides to explore a historic craft or trade during their time with us. Some of these could include spinning and weaving, open hearth cooking, historic chocolate-making, woodworking, and sewing, but the possibilities are endless!

Connect with Local Heritage!

Your children will be viewing the same landscapes that inspired Andrew Wyeth and other famous local artists. They will also be working at historic sites that witnessed the Battle of the Brandywine during the American Revolution. Need we say more than that?
