Chadds Ford Days Juried Art Show, September 12 & 13, 2009

Dear Fine Artists,

The Chadds Ford Historical Society invites you to apply to our 44th annual Chadds Ford Days Fair to be held Saturday and Sunday, September 12 & 13, 2009 - and there will be awards again as the show is juried. The Fair is held in the meadow adjacent to the Historical Society’s Barn on Creek Road (Old Route 100) in Chadds Ford, 1/4 mile north of US Route 1. There will be advance publicity in all media: newspapers, radio, television and magazines. Saturday’s fair hours will be 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday’s hours will be 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Fair is the Society’s largest yearly fundraising event. Last year we drew over 10,000 visitors. The proceeds from the Fair are used by the Society to preserve and maintain our two historic house museums, the John Chads' House (1725) and the Barns-Brinton House (1714); and the Barn, which houses our office, museum room and library. An essential element of our mission as a non-profit organization is to educate the public, especially children, in colonial lifestyles and crafts. See the awards this year: Fine Arts Awards (Subject to Change between August 5 - September 11, 2009).

Fine Artists will have three options to showcase this year:

2. Set-up your own 10 x 10' space outside of the Gallery Tent

3. MEMBERS ONLY: Chadds Ford Historical Society Members - Artwork Submission Form: Pay $15.00 per original piece (or 2 for $25.00) to hang in the Gallery Tent. Members are INELIGIBLE for the Fine Arts Awards. DEADLINE: Friday, August 21, 2009

NOTE: 2/3 of your displayed artwork must be original. For instance, if you display 5 prints, then you must also display 10 originals.

Artists choosing display category 1 and 2 (above) are eligible for cash awards and gifts  from local companies such as Qoro, John Milner Architects, Strode's Mill Gallery, Station Gallery, Chaddsford Winery, Brilliant Studios, and Raymar Art Supplies. In 2008, over $4,000 in cash and merchandise were distributed among artists.

The Fair field will be open for set-up from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday, September 11, and 8 – 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 12. If you require more than a two-hour set-up time, you must begin on Friday.

If you know of any exceptionally fine artists who would like to participate in the Art Show, please ask them to apply to the Society. With your help, the Art Show at Chadds Ford Days will be a great one. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you in September.

Sincerely,

Chadds Ford Days Fine Arts Committee 2009
