Daniel Davis House

(1740/1802/1935)
Birmingham Road, near Street Road (now Route 926)
Birmingham Township
Private Home

The core of this additive serpentine stone house bears the datestone “D D 1740” for Daniel Davis. His grandson, Aaron, constructed the major wing c. 1802. The 166 acre farm complex was in the path of Battle. It was not far from the British generals’ lookout point on Osborne Hill.  From there, they could watch the Continentals forming three-quarters of a mile south. At the time of the Battle, Davis’s daughter-in-law Mary, widow of his son James, was living in the house.
