| (Chadds Ford, PA) – Have you ever wondered what it was like to live in the 1700s in colonial America? Now is your chance to learn! The Chadds Ford Historical Society’s Jr. Guides will hold an orientation session on March 22 at 1 p.m. at the Historical Society on Route 100, ¼ mile north of Route 1.The program is open to children in grades 5 through 12 and costs $20 per person. In sessions held on Saturdays from May to October, children learn through hands-on activities skills such as making candles, cooking over an open hearth fire and sewing their own 18th-century clothing. This summer’s program also includes making brooms, whittling and a fishing trip! In September Junior Guides demonstrate their new skills at Chadds Ford Days, the Historical Society’s outdoor colonial fair. See the Junior Guides page or call (610) 388 7376 for information. | |
