Hands on History Summer Camps 2024

Chadds Ford Historical Society invites campers entering 3rd to 6th grade to join our Hands on History Summer Camps.  Each day campers will explore the 18th century through nature, the arts, and colonial life.  They will hike the Brandywine trail, learn fire starting techniques with a local reenactor, and build a wood crafted item with a master carpenter. Demonstrations on music from the past with an 18th century dulcimer musician, the science behind paper marbling with a master marbler, and the art of sand sculpting with a professional sand sculptor will take place throughout the week.  Additionally, campers will spend a day at the Barns-Brinton House baking in the beehive oven with an 18th century baker, and exploring our garden to create an herbal medicine. The week will conclude with marble making, colonial games, and the schoolhouse  escape room with local reenactors. Campers will not want to miss this chance to experience Hands on History!
